Dermal fillers can do more than just help hide the signs of aging by filling in fine lines and wrinkles.  They can be used to help camouflage acne scars and help augment the chin to make it look longer or to contour it better to the shape of your face.  Using injectable fillers on the chin can help your face look slimmer as well.  With most injectable fillers, it isn’t a permanent change, but one treatment can last for months, depending on which product is used.

How Chin Augmentation is Done

Dermal fillers are injected into the chin using small needles into precise areas of the chin to augment it.  There is very little pain involved in the treatment as a numbing agent is used before injections begin and also, another agent, such as lidocaine, is used to block pain locally.  Rather than having surgery to augment the chin, which can be painful, the injectable fillers show instantaneous results.

Advantages of Fillers for Augmentation

When surgery is done to augment the chin, there can be pain and swelling for up to two weeks.  With fillers, there will be some swelling, but it will subside quicker and you won’t have the same pain as you would with a surgical solution.  The injections are also less expensive, even though they are not a permanent solution.  However, depending on the product that is used, sometimes the results can last up to two years.

As we age, our face changes and a permanent surgical solution could look odd when you face changes.  However, with injections, since they are not permanent, the chin can be shaped differently when you face changes so it still looks natural and not augmented.  More precise adjustments and contouring can be done with injections, whereas chin implants would have to be surgically replaced.

Would a Chin Filler Make My Chin Look Weird?

Another advantage to using an injectable filler is that if the chin doesn’t look natural or if the client isn’t happy with the results, changes can be easily made or the treatment effects can be undone.  Your face won’t look weird because of a chin filler because your doctor can be precise about where he places the filler, but if you are unhappy with the results, he or she can reverse the process easily.

Who Would Want Chin Augmentation?

Both men and women may choose to get their chin augmented by using injectable fillers.  A short chin or a ‘weak’ chin may bother some men much more than it would a woman, but there is a simple solution for them.  The results of the injectable fillers is immediate and the swelling may only last two to three days at the most after the treatment has been done.  You can get more information about using injectable filler treatments at Imagelift.com.

The procedure is inexpensive when compared with having permanent surgery done and often the results look much natural.  The treatments are much less painful and the results are instant.
