Among the best memories that many children have of their school lives are the trips they go on where they get to experience some amazing new things and share those moments with their fellow students as well as get to know their teachers better and perhaps even learn something new too.

Skiing is a fantastic activity and one that offers a chance to see some spectacular scenery, develop some new skills and have a lot of fun, all at the same time. Apart from at artificial winter sports centres, students in the UK do not often get a chance to experience all the wonders of skiing. Trips organised through the school are therefore an excellent way to introduce children to all the pleasures of the sport whilst hopefully expanding their education and allowing them to have a unique experience, shared with their friends and their teachers. There are a few pointers to bear in mind with any school trip, especially for an activity such as skiing.

Location
There are countless great ski locations across the globe, but for a school skiing trip, certain factors need to be considered. In order to help keep the costs down, somewhere in Europe is often the best bet as a shorter flight usually results in a lower price. In addition, somewhere with more extensive amenities and facilities is often better when taking a group of school children abroad as it will make the teachers’ lives easier and will also make sure the parents are happier with the arrangement. A destination with plenty of nursery and beginners’ slopes is always important as many of the travelling pupils may not have had extensive experience or practice on skis and will want to be eased into it as much as possible.

Safety
School skiing vacations can seem hazardous at first consideration but most modern ski resorts have the necessary measures in place to make sure this is not necessarily the case. Countries such as Austria, which have a booming winter sports tourism industry, are good choices as they will have good training schools, plenty of staff on hand to ensure that maximum safety is ensured throughout and facilities like ski lifts and medical centres will be of a higher standard and can go some way to guarantee peace of mind for all concerned. If there is an intention of including snowboarding and other sports as well as skiing, it is worth choosing a destination that has the necessary provisions for these as well, ensuring safety as well as a wide choice to keep the kids entertained.

Overall, skiing trips with a school can be a hugely rewarding experience for everyone involved. The students get a chance to enjoy all the thrills of the slopes, as well as developing a great new skill and quite probably a passion for a whole new sport, whilst the teachers get to have all the fun as well and get to see their pupils getting enjoyment and education from their experience. It is also great for classroom bonding.
