Ensuring your tires are in good condition is an issue of tremendous importance.

Tires that are worn out, balding, or that have been damaged could have a negative impact on fuel economy, reduce ride quality, or even pose a potential safety hazard.

Perform a Visual Inspection

A simple visual inspection can tell you a great deal about the condition of your car’s tires. Treadwear is easy enough to spot, especially in situations where tires may be balding or suffering from uneven wear.

A bubble, exposed tread or foreign objects that have become embedded within the tire can also be easy to spot.

Inspecting your tires at least once a week is a good habit to get into, one that can provide you with plenty of warning that your existing set may need to be replaced.

Check Tire Pressure Regularly

A visual inspection may not always be an effective way of determining whether a tire has been properly inflated.

While a flat tire can be hard to miss, it can be under or over-inflated to a surprising degree before it may become noticeable.

Tires that have been improperly inflated may begin to wear out prematurely, so checking and adjusting tire pressure whenever you stop for gas is always a smart move.

Keeping a tire-pressure gauge in the glove box is always a good idea as the gauge provided by a gas station or that may be attached to an air compressor may not always be able to provide an accurate reading.

Having Your Tires Rotated

Tire rotation is something that many vehicle owners choose to overlook. Swapping the position of each tire at set intervals can help to minimize uneven wear and ensure that the entire set can last as long as possible.

If you have been neglecting to rotate your tires or cannot determine when it was last performed it may be a good idea to take care of it now before more serious problems can develop.

Upgrading to Better Tires

High-performance tires have a lot to offer. Better handling, improved cornering, and superior ride quality could make investing in a new set a worthwhile undertaking.

Even if there is nothing wrong with your existing set, upgrading can be well worth the time and expense involved.

Keeping them in good condition is an important safety concern.

Worn tires can lead to less efficient braking, poor handling, or an increased risk of a blowout.

Checking and inspecting them regularly can help you to spot any problems early on and to replace your existing set as soon as it becomes necessary.
