How Clear Management Can Boost Employee Productivity And Quality

Although companies should be focusing some of their time on boosting revenue this is not all they should be focusing on.

What they should be focusing on alongside this is ensuring that their overheads are as low as possible. For many organisations across the globe, reducing their monthly expenditure is not as hard as they might think. Companies that are looking to employ more staff should first consider whether their management strategy is allowing their employees to work at peak productivity.

Give Responsibility

An employee that is productive is going to be one that responsibility. If you look at most company structures, they are incredibly unorganised. Someone with an AAT foundation in accounting might be working on a marketing project, whereas an IT engineer might be helping out with interviews. In order to increase productivity, a company needs to bring out the specific skill set of the individual and give them responsibilities relating to that skill set.

If an individual has marketing experience, let them lead the marketing campaigns. If they have experience with sales, let them operate your lead generation team. Not only will they feel valued and be more productive, their experience will allow others to be more productive as well.

Brainstorming

Feedback sessions are incredibly productive if they are structured in the right way. Companies like Google allow their employees to give ongoing feedback. Better still, they actually allow their employees 20% of their working week to work on projects of their choosing.

This has created some of Google’s best work. Always embrace feedback. Just because a whole idea seems bad, doesn’t mean aspects of an idea could not be a game changer for a company. Feedback sessions in the form of brainstorming also allow a manager to see what people have been working on, their output and their thoughts.

Training

Don’t be afraid to put employees through training. The more employees train, the more likely they are to feel valued; they feel like a company is investing in them because they are good. Better still; their skill set will improve dramatically which means they are going to turn from being an employee into being an asset to the company.

Training could cover a range of different areas. There are plenty of private training companies that cover sessions for accounting, marketing, sales, HR and even management.

The Next Step…

Sometimes moulding employees is simply not possible. Some companies simply need employees that are fresh out of University or have experience in the field. If a company really does need an employee, even after implementing the above tactics, the employee search needs to start. Most companies will advertise using a range of online career websites. They will get hundreds of applications, many of which are not suitable. If a company really wants results, they should consider getting a headhunting agency to find them exactly what they need.
