5 Ways to Spring Clean Your Life

| April 30, 2019

spring cleaningSpring is fully upon us, and I hope you are enjoying the warmer weather as much as I am. With the threat of snow behind us, days just seem better. Days are longer, warmer, and you feel more motivated to get to that mountain of tasks you’ve been neglecting all winter long. There’s a reason that spring cleaning is popular in, well, spring.

The urge to clean and organize and resolve issues just isn’t as strong during fall. You can take advantage of this innate urge to spring cleaning to not only get your home cleaned, but also to clean out other areas of your life, as well.

Get rid of the things you no longer need

Obviously, the most obvious need for spring cleaning, is all of those piles of things you really don’t need anymore.

Everyone has that closet, or area of the garage, or even that spot in your guest room, where you’ve piled up all of the things that you don’t need anymore.

The electrical cords you “might need” someday, broken computers, clothing that none of your kids fit into anymore.

You don’t need these things, but for some reason, have held onto. It’s time to stop. Get rid of these things.

You can host a yard sale, or just take everything to your local thrift shop, but you need to get them out of your home. You won’t miss them, if you haven’t used them in months.

Make a plan to get out of debt

spring cleaningThe holidays are a little rough on all of our wallets, and recovery is overdue. Luckily, it’s also tax season.

If you are expecting a tax return, plan on putting at least some of it towards paying down debt.

Even if you don’t have credit card debt, you can put a portion towards paying down your car loan, or mortgage.

Debt is one of those things that we tend to ignore as long as possible, but you should try to at least make a plan to get out of debt now that things are warming up and you’re getting a bit more energy.

Say goodbye to one bad habit

We all have bad habits. Whether you’re a nail biter, you don’t drink enough water, or you never call your mom, there is something that all of us can improve on.

Make a goal to eat more vegetables. There’s a good chance your new year’s resolution is a thing of the past at this point, so either renew your resolutions, or craft a new goal for self improvement.

Go to all the doctors visits you’ve been avoiding

spring cleaningHow long has it been since you’ve been to the dentist? Are you overdue on your boosters? Do you have constant back pain but you’ve just been ignoring it?

Take care of yourself. Call for all of your checkups, address the issues you’re facing. Whether that’s seeing a chiropractor, therapist, or physician.

You deserve to be operating at your very best, and when you let things like aching teeth, seasonal depression, a stiff back, or a persistent cough, go on so long, you’re just hurting yourself more.

You deserve to take care of yourself. So while you have the energy to, make a few calls, space out your appointments, and get yourself taken care of.

Cut out a toxic relationship

Do you have that person that just drains your energy every time you talk to them? You know the person I’m talking about.

That negative energy isn’t adding anything to your life. This can even be accounts on Instagram or Facebook you follow but they annoy every time they show up in your feed.

You deserve to feel joy in your relationships and interactions, so cut out those toxic relationships, or at the very least, distance yourself from them somewhat.

Sometimes you can’t cut something like that overnight, but getting a bit of distance will help you start to enjoy life just a little bit more.
