I have to admit that studying abroad in London turned out to be a life changing experience. In fact, it was so intense the feeling was similar to being thrown into a completely different country where you needed to learn a new language. Looking at the brighter side, I also have to admit that the five months that I spent in London introduced me to a completely new culture of celebrating everything properly.

Being a city of at least 8.1 million people, there is no need of stressing the fact that there is something for everybody to enjoy regardless of personal preferences. Since London stole my heart and introduced me to a whole new world, here is an overview of some of the things I found very exciting that you should make an effort to check out when you have a chance to visit the city.

London has several very beautiful building scattered all over the city. The best way to have a good sneak peek at all the iconic architectural works in the city is to simply take advantage of London’s views. London Eye, the world famous attraction may appear to be incredibly touristy but it is a must visit.

Apart from this, the 30-minute journey around the city also serves as a perfect opportunity to enjoy a fantastic view of not only the parliament square but also Buckingham palace as well as the way down the Thames. There is yet another great view “the shard” which is also one of the latest additions to the London skyline. Although the shard seems a little overpriced, the view is spectacular in case you have the opportunity of taking up the ride up the 72 floors.

London

Regarding London’s nightlife, the best description I would give is that: it is very crazy fun and most worthwhile to take part in. Camden Town and Piccadilly Circus of instance are home to some of the best bars and clubs in London. Other standouts during my stay in London included a burlesque themed nightclub by the name Café de Paris and the Proud Camden which is simply an old hospital refurbished into a nightclub.

In case you are in London studying like me then simply take time to look for promoters within your program who are able to get you discounts or free entry into these hot spots. Keep in mind, taking advantage of these promoters will help you save a lot of money. In fact you might even enjoy a couple of free drinks every once in awhile when clubbing.

In case you are the type of person who does not fancy so much the club scene then don’t worry, there are alternatives to the clubs. These are the pubs, O’Neil’s for instance is wonderful, plus it is slightly secluded right in the middle of chinatown. What’s more, they even have live bands performing. The place is also very lively since most visitors from Europe flock there for a great time as well as to take advantage of the cheap deals offered.

Bottom line

From the above, you can clearly see the reason why London serves as a perfect gateway to visit England’s cities and towns. London also has several train stations as well as bus stations all of which are fully functional hence making commuting from one place to the next as well as visiting places such as Cambridge, Brighton, Bristol, Liverpool, oxford and Manchester very easy and quick.

In addition to all of this, London also has additional trains running into France, the Netherlands, Germany as well as Belgium.
